NAME qprepMessageTableInitialize: initialize table of error messages and codes USAGE qprepMessageTableInitialize(\%message_table) ; ARGUMENTS \%message_table: nested hash table of error messages and codes. Keys are tokens for errors. Values are hash table: Key is either MSG_TEXT or ERR_CODE. Value associated with MSG_TEXT is text string with error message. Value associated with ERR_CODE is integer error code value. DESCRIPTION The "error table" facility act similarly in spirit to the "perror" and "errno" operating system facilities, in that this facility provides a unified access point for common error messages and codes. This facility allows for rapid and simple internationalization, since only the text portion of the table need be changed, and the rest of the code can remain unchanged. This facility also reduces the number of error messages by provoding a set of common messages, instead of the code author concocting a new message for each situation, when some situations should share one text message.
