It also can delete files on a remote system. It is a command-line interface to the File Transfer Agent (FTA). File status is not provided through this interface; use FTA directly through the ffttaa(8) command. You can abbreviate the following options as long as the abbreviation is not ambiguous (for example, you can specify --aa for --aaccccoouunntt, but shortening --ppaasssswwoorrdd to --ppaa is not valid because the abbreviation also can represent --ppaatthh): --aaccccoouunntt _s_t_r_i_n_g Specifies _s_t_r_i_n_g as the remote user's account identifier. --ccoonnttrrooll _s_t_r_i_n_g Specifies _s_t_r_i_n_g as a transfer service-specific (domain) control string. The file transfer service used determines the use of the control string. FTA does not interpret the control string. --ddeebbuugg Provides output for problem diagnosis. --ddoommaaiinn _d_o_m_a_i_n__n_a_m_e Specifies _d_o_m_a_i_n_n_a_m_e as the FTA domain name. --ffuunnccttiioonn [[_f_u_n_c_t_i_o_n]] Specifies the function to be performed (that is, file retrieval, file storage, or file deletion). _f_u_n_c_t_i_o_n is one of the following: ddeelleettee Deletes _d_e_s_t_i_n_a_t_i_o_n__f_i_l_e on a remote host ggeett Retrieves _s_o_u_r_c_e__f_i_l_e from a remote host and copies it to _d_e_s_t_i_n_a_t_i_o_n__f_i_l_e mmoovveeoouutt Stores _s_o_u_r_c_e__f_i_l_e on a remote host as _d_e_s_t_i_n_a_t_i_o_n__f_i_l_e and unlinks the local file ppuutt Stores _s_o_u_r_c_e__f_i_l_e on a remote host as _d_e_s_t_i_n_a_t_i_o_n__f_i_l_e --hheellpp Lists command usage information. --hhoosstt _h_o_s_t_n_a_m_e Specifies _h_o_s_t_n_a_m_e as the remote host name. FTA interprets the host name based on the file transfer service (or domain) used. --nnooppaasssswwoorrdd Specifies that you are not prompted for a password. --nnoowwaaiitt Identifies the operation as an asynchronous operation; that is, the command does not wait until the function specified has been completed before exiting. Without this option, the command waits until the function has completed, reporting the status of the operation. This option is particularly useful with the mmoovveeoouutt function to dispose output at the end of a job script. --ppaasssswwoorrdd _s_t_r_i_n_g Specifies _s_t_r_i_n_g as the remote user's password. FTA uses the domain name to determine the file transfer service to use. --ppaatthh _r_e_m_o_t_e__f_i_l_e Explicitly identifies the name of the file on the remote system; lets you place it anywhere on the command line. --ttrraaccee Prints a trace of the conversation with the FTA server to standard error. --ttyyppee [_f_i_l_e_t_y_p_e] Specifies the type of the file to transfer. _f_i_l_e_t_y_p_e is one of the following: aasscciiii File contains ASCII (character) data. The file is transferred using a method that preserves the line boundary structure of the file. If the remote system stores character data in EBCDIC format, conversion to and from that format is performed. bbiinnaarryy File contains binary data. No interpretation is made of data within the file. The remote system stores the file in such a way that the file can be retrieved unchanged. --uusseerr _u_s_e_r_n_a_m_e Specifies _u_s_e_r_n_a_m_e as the remote user name (identifier). _s_o_u_r_c_e__f_i_l_e Specifies the name of a file to be transferred to _d_e_s_t_i_n_a_t_i_o_n__f_i_l_e. If you omit the --ppaatthh option, this option is required. _d_e_s_t_i_n_a_t_i_o_n__f_i_l_e (Required) Specifies the name of a file after it has been transferred. RReeqquueesstt IIddeennttiiffiiccaattiioonn When rrfftt queues a request to FTA, the FTA request ID is returned to standard output. You can use the request ID with ffttaa(8) to monitor or change the state of a particular request. IInntteerrrruuppttiioonn If rrfftt is interrupted before it has queued a transfer request, the transfer is not queued and does not occur. If rrfftt is interrupted after it has queued a transfer request and FTA has started to process the request, the transfer continues until either it is complete or it fails. If the transfer fails because of a transient error, the transfer will be requeued, and it can be recovered when an FTA recover process runs. EEXXIITT SSTTAATTUUSS If the rrfftt command fails to perform the specified function when operating synchronously, it exits with a nonzero exit status (usually 1). When you specify the --nnoowwaaiitt option, the exit status reflects only the command's ability to queue the requested function. An exit status of 2 indicates that a failure occurred when FTA was processing a request. An exit status of 3 indicates that rrfftt was interrupted while waiting for a queue request to complete. MMEESSSSAAGGEESS When rrfftt is used asynchronously (--nnoowwaaiitt option), FTA diagnostics may be returned to the user on standard error if FTA processing reaches a point of failure before rrfftt exits. Diagnostics for asynchronous requests are sent from FTA to the user by using electronic mail.
